A few months ago, I wrote up a piece for mid-level and senior devs about how to usefully pair program with a less-experienced partner. You can find it on the DevMynd blog.
You may also be interested in my article here on my first two months of full-time pairing, written back in the day when I had just started at Pivotal Labs. I’ve been meaning to write a followup for a few years now on the long-term effects of full-time pair programming; I haven’t seen that topic covered in depth elsewhere. I’ve paired for six years now, and I still wouldn’t go back to solo programming.
But in the meantime, please enjoy the piece on mixed-level pairing, and let me know your thoughts.
